Empty Bowls

We are very happy to be a part of the Channel One 2024 Empty Bowls event. Empty Bowls remains a crucial part of Channel One’s work to increase food security for our friends and neighbors. Participants will enjoy gourmet soups and bread from local restaurants as well as hand-painted bowls– as a reminder of those who may not know where their next meal will come from. Find out more info about Channel One and the Empty Bowls event by following this link. Empty Bowls (helpingfeedpeople.org)

To paint a bowl for Channel One’s signature fundraiser, follow the steps below.

Step One: Go to the shop page

Navigate to the shop page. Select the tab for Channel One.  Select the bowl and indicate the number of bowls you would like.  Navigate to the check-out screen.

Step Two: Pick your glaze

After adding items to the cart during check out, pick your colors (this is at check out in the notes section) and fill out the check out form. You can find the glazes on the glaze selection page.

When listing glaze selections for multiple items, list each item separately. Identify the main glaze color and note that it is the main color, then list the accent glaze color. This is very important to ensure you have enough glaze. There is a sample glaze notation on the glaze selection page.

You also have the option to say in this section that you would like a local artist to paint your bowl! If you decide to do this please notate in the glaze selection box- (NOT PAINTING) - Continue to check out and we will match your donated bowl with an artist

Step Three: Pick up your pottery

Pick-up location is Pottery by Jessica Studio in SE Rochester (address will be provided when your items are ready for pick up) There is a no-contact cabinet outside of the studio. Once your order is ready for pick up, you will get an email. Hours of pick up are between 9AM and 9PM,

Everything you need (brushes, paint, instructions and your pottery) will be at the pick-up location.

Step Four: Paint at home!

Remember the colors are non-toxic and water based-so they wash out of hair, clothes and carpet. Once a long, long time ago my tiny child ate some as she was painting and now she is a happy healthy grown child.   Read the included instructions for painting tips and techniques. Have fun creating!

Step Five: Return your items for Firing

Pack back up your items when you’re done and bring your items and brushes back to the studio. We will then dip your items in a clear coat and fire them.

Step Six: We Deliver Your Creation to Channel One
